Lesson 2 · Huroof Murakkabat

Joined Letters

حروف مرکبات

Today I will learn how letters change shape when they hold hands.

When letters join they change shape a little. Read every joined group by naming each letter, e.g. با = Baa + Alif. Six letters ا د ذ ر ز و never join to the letter after them.

Tip for parents: Ask your child to find the "head" of each letter (dots, teeth, loops). Dots are the best clue!

🔊 Tap any box to highlight it and hear it with your device’s Arabic voice (checking your device…)

Read with your teacher. This online book supports your lessons; it does not replace a qualified teacher, who corrects pronunciation and tajweed.
