Kids Ramadan tracker: good deeds & practice fasts
A free 30-day chart for Ramadan 2027. Your child ticks a good deed, Quran time, a dua and any practice fast each day, and collects stars. Works for more than one child and prints for the fridge.
In short: Ramadan 2027 is expected to start on Monday 8 February 2027 (subject to moon sighting). This free tracker gives your child one small good deed for each of the 30 days, plus a tick for Quran time, a dua and any practice fast. Children are not required to fast before puberty, so practice fasts are optional and gentle. You can also start a 30-day practice month today to build the habit before Ramadan.

How should children practise fasting, by age?
Fasting Ramadan becomes an obligation at puberty. Before that, a child does not have to fast. Many families still let children practise in small, happy steps, so that by the time fasting is required it already feels familiar. The early Muslims did this too: in Sahih al-Bukhari 1960, ar-Rubayyiʿ bint Muʿawwidh describes how they would “also make our boys fast. We used to make toys of wool for the boys” to keep them busy until it was time to break the fast.
These are gentle starting points, not targets. Readiness matters more than age.
Wake for suhoor now and then, help set the iftar table, hand out dates. Eat and drink normally during the day.
From suhoor until mid-morning or lunchtime, on a weekend or holiday. Add a little time only when it goes well.
Longer part-day fasts, and a full day now and then on a calm day if your child is well and keen. Avoid full fasts on busy school or sports days.
Once a child reaches puberty, fasting Ramadan is required. Support them with a filling suhoor, water at iftar, sleep and a lighter schedule where you can.
- Choose calm days for practice fasts, such as weekends, not exam, sports or long school-trip days.
- Make suhoor filling and give plenty of water at suhoor and after iftar.
- Stop straight away if your child feels dizzy, faint, very tired, unwell or upset, and praise them for trying. Stopping is the right thing to do.
- Do not compare siblings or friends. Every child moves at their own pace.
This is general guidance, not medical advice. If your child has a health condition or takes regular medicine, please speak to your doctor before any fasting, and ask a qualified scholar about rulings.
Which dua do we say when breaking the fast?
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
Dhahabaẓ-ẓamaʾu wabtallatil-ʿurūqu wa thabatal-ajru in shāʾ Allāh
“Thirst has gone, the arteries are moist, and the reward is sure, if Allah wills.”
Source: Sunan Abi Dawud 2357 (graded hasan by al-Albani). The Prophet ﷺ said this when he broke his fast. Please learn the pronunciation with a teacher.

How do I use the tracker with my child?
- Add your child’s name (or each child’s name) so everyone has their own chart.
- Choose “Practice month” if you want to start now, then switch to Ramadan 2027 in February.
- Fill it in together after iftar or before bed. Read out the good deed for tomorrow, so your child can plan it.
- Celebrate stars, not perfection. If a day is missed, simply carry on. The chart has no “bad” column.
- Print it for the fridge if your child likes colouring in ticks by hand.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Kids Ramadan Tracker?
It is a free page where your child can tick off a good deed, their Quran time, a dua and any practice fast for each of the 30 days of Ramadan. It counts their stars, works for more than one child, saves on your device and prints as a chart for the fridge.
When does Ramadan 2027 start?
Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, with the first taraweeh on the evening of Sunday 7 February, based on the Umm al-Qura calendar. The start depends on the moon sighting your community follows, so the tracker lets you move day 1 to Sunday 7 or Tuesday 9 February.
Can we use the tracker before Ramadan?
Yes. Choose “Practice month (from today)” and the 30 days start today. Many families use November to January to build the habit of a small good deed and a few minutes of Quran each day, so it already feels normal when Ramadan begins.
At what age should children start fasting?
Fasting Ramadan becomes an obligation at puberty. Before that, many families let children practise in small steps when they are ready and keen, for example a few hours on a weekend day. Ask a qualified scholar about rulings and your doctor about your child’s health.
Is my child’s information saved or shared?
Names and ticks are saved only in your browser on this device, so you can come back to them. Nothing is sent to Her Quran Academy. Clearing your browser data removes them.
